• Choose what military institution you want to attend. There are four military U.S. branches: the Army, the Navy, the Air Force and the Marine. Not all of them will guarantee your job. Only if you qualify you will get a job in the Army. But there is the possibility to choose another job or reclassify once you have joined in the military branch you wanted. In addition, you need to discuss with your recruiter that you want to be a military police officer.
• To join one of the branches of the United States armed forces, you will have to take the entry test. To qualify you must earn a high score that will guarantee the possibility to join the armed forces. If you want to pass the entry test with a high score and increase the chances of becoming a military police officer, start to study for the test. You can ask your recruiter to tell you on what areas to focus for the testing.
• The physical strength is another important part that you should take into account if you want to be a military police officer. You must take the physical condition test, to pass. A military police officer must be in top physical shape to perform his duties. As a police officer you will have to patrol specific area on foot, detain suspects and so on, and for this you will have to be in excellent physical condition. Make regular exercises and focus on weight training, so you can qualify.
• Take the time to study criminal justice. It can be an advantage over other candidates that have no knowledge in this field. It is important to know the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) and also the state lows. Knowing about criminal justice will help you a lot once you will start taking classes. Be prepared before becoming a military police officer.
• You need a relatively clean criminal record for not to have problems entering the police academy. The need of military police officers can be higher sometimes and if you have been a law-abiding citizen, but with minor offenses, it is possible that your recruiter fix that. Working with federal agencies, minor offenses can be cleared from your record, if you talk with your recruiter.

• Your resume format should contain: contact information, job objective, qualification summary, education, skills, military experience, achievements, activities, personal awards and training undertaken. Try to complete these fields as follows above.
• The contact information must be at the top of the resume. This field contains your full name, campus and addresses, your telephone number and email address. While creating your military resume define your civilian job objective very clearly, and specify what kind of job you are looking for.
• The education section must contain a list of the schools attended and your highest degree. Mention the name of the institution, city and state, your degree, major and year awarded. Mention if you have computer skills or other technical skills.

• In the achievements field list all your achievements and areas where you have excelled. Also, list your daily activities and responsibilities and your personal rewards, special awards, certifications.
• The training field must be complete in detail, because it represents an advantage against other potential candidates. Put all yours training and courses undertaken on your resume, will surely help you a lot in your new position.
• Your resume is finished now, but before sending it you must check for errors. A perfect resume must not have errors. Ask someone to read your resume, to make sure there aren’t any spelling errors or typing errors. Then you can send your military resume to companies and employers. • The Junior ROTC program: The military school system provides programs for training in high schools. The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program has started in 1916 and exists in the U.S. high schools. • Types of careers: For a civilian, you can have different roles in the military. Citizens have been employed by the military since the Revolutionary War, to be drivers or laborers. Today, there are thousands of bases in each branch which have jobs for citizens who are looking for a job in the army. Engineers, doctors, scientists and so on can volunteer within the army. In the military, civilian seniors are given many tasks to accomplish such as helping veterans, be administrators and so on. There are also nonprofits organizations which send care packages or wait to be called for homecoming veterans, but only if you assist the military. • Where to look for jobs: If you are looking for a job at a military facility, you can start looking on the internet. There are many military branches each with its own website, where you can find a list of military jobs for civilians. All you have to do is decide on which branch you want to work, then brows the list of jobs available on the respective website and apply online by submitting a resume. You can research find military jobs and career opportunities in the Air Force Civilian Service website for example, or in the Army Civilian Corps website.  There is also the USAjobs.gov website, the official government job bank operated by the Office of Personnel Management, which includes a list of U.S.A. jobs in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Department of Defense. • Military pay:  If you volunteer within the military, you will not get paid, but you can be quickly hired if an opportunity arises.
